Works by photographer Keith Vaught on exhibit at Ogden Nature Center
Local photographer Keith Vaught captures the changing moods, seasons and
skies of the Great Salt Lake in his stunning photographs, on exhibit through
November at the Ogden Nature Center. Vaught¹s images are on display in both
the Visitor Center and the LS Peery Education Building. The Ogden Nature
Center is located at 966 W. 12th Street, Ogden, Utah. Hours are 9-5 Monday
through Friday and 9-4 on Saturday.
Keith Vaught bought his first digital camera and an annual state park pass
in the spring of 2003. The unique beauty of the Great Salt Lake drew him to
Antelope Island State Park as a frequent hiker and photographer. From the
beginning, Vaught began sharing his pictures on the internet. In 2007,
fellow photographer Charles Uibel suggested that Vaught send his pictures to
KSL TV. For about one year, Vaught¹s pictures were frequently featured on
the weather segment of the nightly news. In October 2007, Studio 5, a
weekday morning show, did a story on Vaught¹s photography. Since then he
has upgraded his camera to a Nikon DSLR. Vaught has displayed his
photographs in shows at the Antelope Island Visitor Center, the Annual Bird
Festival and the Ogden Art Show.
"The island is a place of solitude and peace and the Great Salt Lake is the
perfect palette, reflecting the magnificent Wasatch Range and the
ever-changing skies over northern Utah," said Vaught.
Once Wounded Eagle to be Released in Reflection of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
CEDAR CITY, UT – A rehabilitated golden eagle will be released from the “C” overlook on October 29, 2009 at 4:00 PM to pay tribute, honor and remember those affected by breast cancer. The eagle was picked up by the Fish and Game Department and brought to local “Bird Man”, Martin Tyner. “The bird was really banged up and very thin, luckily there were no broken bones”, according to Tyner, who rehabilitated the fowl after severe winds blew through southern Utah several weeks ago.
Martin Tyner, wildlife rehabilitator, hopes to gather awareness and honor those affected by breast Cancer with the release of his latest rescue. As October is “Cancer Awareness” Month, this eagle will be released in honor of cancer survivors, those lost, and those still fighting. Tyner notes: “Many native cultures believe that when you say your prayers with an eagle feather it carries your prayer directly to God. This bird has over 7000 feathers - that is a lot of prayers”.
"Because Martin lives here in our community, we are fortunate to be able see these magnificent creatures close up and soar through the skies over looking some exceptional scenery", Bonnie Char, Public Relations Specialist for the Cedar City ~ Brian Head Tourism Bureau observes. “We invite everyone to take part in this remarkable event.”
Tyner is initiating a moment of reflection at 4 PM on Thursday October 29, 2009 across the nation to remember all who are affected by breast cancer. |
